  • Kevin F. Murphy  served as a speaker during the National Business Institute's "Estate Administration From Start to Finish" program held on September 28, 2018 in Hasbrouck Heights.  Kevin presented on the topics "Complex Issues in Estate Administration" and "Handling Estate Administration Tax Issues".

  • Lum Partner Speaks at Essex County Bar Association Panel Regarding In-Person Networking  -  On June 15, 2016, Arthur M. Owens, Esq. (Partner) spoke on a panel entitled “The Importance of In-Person Networking in the Digital Age”.  The panel took place at the Essex County Courthouse and was directed to the current Essex County Judicial Law Clerks.  Other speakers on the panel included: Raj Gadhok, Esq., of Kozyra & Hartz, LLC, Kaitlyn E. Stone, Esq., of Gibbons PC, Leon Grassi of Smolin, Lupin & Co., Robert Mascia of the Green Ridge Group, Donald Anfuso, of Homeland Lending LLC and Amanda Sexton of DRG Legal.  Mr. Owens is a Trustee of the Essex County Bar Association. 
     
  • Kevin F. Murphy presented on the topics: "Using LLCs For Estate Planning" and "Series LLCs" on June 20, 2014 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Newark NJ as part of a program sponsored by the National Business Institute entitled "Advanced LLC Strategies."

  • On August 21, 2013, Jack P. Baron and Kevin F. Murphy conducted a Lunch N' Learn seminar entitled "Top 10 Tax Mistakes to Avoid in Life Insurance Planning" The program was held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Lum, Drasco & Positan LLC offices located at 103 Eisenhower Parkway, Roseland, NJ. Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits will be issued to attending Certified Public Accountants.

  • On October 28, 2011, Steven J. Eisenstein conducted a Lunch N' Learn seminar entitled "There's Green in Green". The program was held from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits was issued to attending Certified Public Accountants.

  • Cynthia A. Matheke presented at a program entitled "Applying the Rules of Evidence: What Every Attorney Needs To Know" on October 14, 2011 at the Newark Airport Sheraton, sponsored by the National Business Institute. Ms. Matheke was also be a guest lecturer at Rutgers School of Law's "Evidence Intensive" series throughout the month of October.

  • On September 21, 2011 a seminar titled "Tax Consequences of Divorce" was presented by Richard Camp, Kevin F. Murphy and Gina M. Sorge.
  • Wayne J. Positan was the organizer and moderator of the ICLE Annual Labor and Employment Law Forum in March, 2011 which included keynote remarks by NJ Commissioner of Labor Harold J. Wirths and NLRB Regional Director Michael Lightner., and Superior Court Judges Hon. Peter Bariso, Hon. Harriet Farber Klein, and Hon. Vincent LeBlon. Positan was a speaker on the panels on "Ethical Considerations for Labor and Employment Lawyers" and "Hot Topics in Employment Law Trials." He also was a speaker on "Ethics Issues in Employment Law" at the Academy of New Jersey Management Attorneys meeting in March, 2011.

  • Kevin F. Murphy presented at a program entitled "Tax Exempt Organizations From Start To Finish" on August 5, 2011 at the Newark Airport Sheraton, sponsored by the National Business Institute. Cutting edge topics included Liability of Trustees and Officers, Handling Contributions and Tax Deductions and Advising on Operational Issues.

  • Paul A. Sandars III presented at a program entitled "Employee v. Independent Contractor in New Jersey" on July 20, 2011 in East Hanover, New Jersey sponsored by Lorman Educational Services. The program provided practical answers to cutting edge questions regarding classifications between employees and independent contractors. The seminar focused on how to respond to government audits, redetermination issues, administrative hearings, and appeals.

  • Kevin F. Murphy and Morris County Surrogate, John Pecoraro, conducted a seminar entitled "Demystifying the Probate Process in Morris County" on Thursday May 19, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham-Madison Campus, in the Rutherford Room (Ferguson Recreation Center).

  • Wayne J. Positan presented a program on Ethical Issues for Labor and Employment Lawyers at the quarterly meeting of the Association of New Jersey Management Attorneys at Forsgate Country Club on March, 24, 2011.

  • On September 23, 2010, the firm's Labor and Employment Group conducted a seminar and panel discussion entitled "A Best Practices Approach to Employment Law Compliance". The seminar was held from 7:30 until 9:30 am at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Managing Partner Wayne J. Positan moderated. Christina Silvapresented on The Value of an Effective Anti-Harassment PolicyDaniel M. Santarsiero addressed Monitoring Employee Communications: The Delicate Balance Between an Employer's Right to Review and the Employee's Right to Privacy; Elizabeth Y. Moon outlined the latest developments regarding Handling Employee Complaints to Avoid a Retaliation Claim; and Christopher Capone advised on the importance of Protecting Your Intellectual Property.

  • Kevin F. Murphy and Morris County Surrogate, John Pecoraro, conducted a seminar entitled "De-Mystifying the Probate Process in Morris County" on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham-Madison Campus, in the Rutherford Room (Ferguson Recreation Center).

  • Hon. Richard C. Camp, J.S.C. (ret) was a panelist on June 24, 2010 at a seminar entitled "Use of Appraisals in Litigation." He discussed the matrimonial law aspects of appraisals. The seminar was held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Libretti's Restaurant, 554 Nassau Street, Orange, New Jersey.

  • On March 31, 2010, members of the firm presented a seminar and panel discussion on topics of interest for family owned businesses. Topics will include Restrictive Covenants, LLC Operating Agreements, A New Era at DEP: Boon or Bane for Small business, Contract Procurement Opportunities for Minority businesses, Estate Tax Planning in 2010, and a Litigators perspective on disputes involving family owned businesses. The seminar was held at Hartman Lounge, The Mansion at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Managing Partner Wayne J. Positanmoderated, panelists included; Christopher Capone, Philip L. Chapman, Steven J. Eiesenstein, Charly Gayden, Kevin F. Murphyand Kevin J. O'Connor.

  • The Annual ICLE Labor Law Forum took place at the NJ Bar Center on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 led by organizer/moderator Wayne J. Positan. It included presentations by the NJ Commissioner of Labor, the NLRB Regional Director and noted labor and employment practitioners, including a segment replicating a program presented at NJ Judicial College including Judges Harz and Sapp-Peterson, Wayne Positan, Nancy Erika Smith, Bruce McMoran, and John Ridley. Firm member Christina Silva presented a program on Ethics in Employment Law with Justice Roberto Rivera-Soto and Ralph Lamparello. Positan has chaired the Annual ICLE Labor Law Forum since 1994.
