Hon. Richard C. Camp (Ret.)

On April 1, 2008, Judge Richard C. Camp joined our firm, Of Counsel.  Judge Richard C. Camp has had an illustrious and distinguished career.  After receiving his Liberal Arts degree from Colgate University, he attended Seton Hall Law School, where he obtained his J.D. in 1968.  Upon his graduation, he worked as a Deputy Attorney General assigned to the Department of Labor and Industry.  Thereafter, he worked in private practice for twenty years, specializing in Family and Civil Litigation as well as commercial zoning (having represented RICOH Company, Shoprite and Deluxe Check Printers, among others).  He also served as a Municipal Court Prosecutor for the township of Verona.  In 1992, he was sworn in as an Essex County Superior Court Judge.  While he served in the Criminal Division most of his time was devoted to the Family Division.  In addition, he was the disqualifying judge for Chancery and frequently handled both Chancery and Civil settlements.

Judge Camp has always been highly involved with the Bench and Bar, having worked closely with the Administrative Office of the Courts on the Judicial Committees on Salary and Pensions and the Judicial Code of Conduct.  Additionally, he has lectured extensively at the Northern New Jersey Inns of Court and at his alma mater, Seton Hall Law School.  Judge has also spoken on numerous panels for State and County Bar Seminars, as well as Family Law Retreats. He was elected a Fellow of The American Bar Association and was recently selected as one of the 36 New Jersey Members to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.  He has been selected by his peers for recognition in the 25th and 26th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in Family Law Mediation.
